Smart Scan measurement mode views and analyzes the carrier levels and deviations of up to 999 channels at a time and displays the video level and deviation of a carrier and the overall tilt on a single screen. This mode also automatically calculates the overall tilt and best fit line of a full scan measurement. A channel's deviation is calculated by automatically adjusting the level measurement for the channel based on its type (TV, DUAL, Single, DIG, or DOCSIS) and the tilt present. The channel's distance to the expected best fit line is the displayed deviation value. This mode gives users the ability to compare channels of different types to each other and quickly points out when a channel is being transmitted at a level that is much higher or lower than others of its type. Also, it allows for setting tighter performance limits on the channel plan when operating in an area of high tilt, such as right after an amplifier.
The results can be viewed in a bar or line graph form and can be measured
in relation to user-configured limit sets. Test results can be stored for
later reference.
